1937
- 1946
In
1937 the Separate Disc model was eliminated and the 'Uni-Disc' model
was introduced where the bowl was moulded and machined in one piece
and the emblems etc., were engraved directly on to the Bowl (production
was halted during the Second World War).
1946
- 1959
When
bowls production resumed after the War Years (on the 6th February,
1946) a series of automated high precision turning and biasing machines
came into operation.
The
previous 'Uni-Disc' model was replaced with the Henselite 'Standard'
model which continues as the popular Bowl in 1959.
1959
Development
of a new improved powder compound saw the introduction of a 'Super
Grip' additive which became the main feature (better feel and improved
grip) of the 'Championship' model. This 'Super Grip' compound has
remained an added feature on all subsequent models.
1967
- 1988
To
this point in time, all Henselite Bowls were not gripped (no Dimple
Grip) but the popularisation of the game saw the need for the development
of a gripped bowl which would assist many bowlers in obtaining a
firmer, more reliable grip on the bowl.
For
the first time the Henselite Deluxe (dimple gripped) bowl became
available. This innovation has continued to a point where approximately
90% of all bowls produced contain this feature.
Since
then all Henselite models have been available in gripped or non-gripped
variations.
1988
Saw
the introduction of the W.B.B (formerly I.B.B) Rules for the Game
of Lawn Bowls. These Rules, as well as allowing the introduction
of 'Narrow Biased Bowls' also called for bowls manufacturers to
identify their biases by a specific Model Name.
Consequently,
the Henselite Standard Bias (1930-1988) was renamed the CLASSIC
Bias.
(NB:
Early versions of this Bias include: Originals, Uni-Disc, Standard,
Championship, Super Grip in Deluxe/Gripped and Non Gripped Models).
Similarly,
the New Zealand Model Bowl (The N.Z.B.A.) became the MASTERS Bias.
1989
Due
to the adoption of the New W.B.B. Rules (Internationally), Henselite
developed and released the CLASSIC II Model Bowl.
As
a result of its release and subsequent success on the greens, it
has become the most popular narrow biased bowl in Australia and
New Zealand.
1992
Due
to the popular demand for a narrow draw bowl with a more direct
(less hook) finish, Henselite successfully released the MAESTRO
Model Bowl. (This model has subsequently has been superseded by
the ABT-2000).
1994
The
ABT-2000 Model is the latest in lawn bowls bias technology. Hence,
the name Advanced Bias Technology. This Bowl combines the best features
of the Classic II and the Maestro and was released only after extensive
field testing by some of Australia's best bowlers.
It
has, in their hands, already achieved outstanding success on the
greens.
Their
recommendations and those of the top international bowlers reinforce
Henselite's claim to being 'The Champions Choice'.
